Hi everybody, this is just a quick reminder that due to server work we might encounter short periods of downtime within the next 24 hours or so. We've managed to work great deals without any outage, so we hope not to experience too much absence of Maxtango. :)

| DNS problems resolved |

If you have tried to send out ecards between February 14 - Feb 15 you might have experienced an error coming up. Same when you tried to register an account with us. We would kindly ask you to try again as we can't guarantee that these cards were delivered.
The glitch has been fixed on Feb 16 and DNS resolver settings have been updated!

Hello everybody,
a quick reminder for those who come to the site and are new to Maxtango. It appears that some use Maxtango as a container for their very personal Ecards. Such as personal invitations, advertising, or Ecards that are only aimed at one person.
We have nothing against personal Ecards, just that those are not for everybody. While a personal birthday party invitation is nice, it's not meant for a community Ecard service. So while we do not support the feature of flagging Ecards as private or personal, we ask you to keep your Ecards in a way that they can be enjoyed and sent around by the community and not only by yourself. This means not to address people personally in your Ecard for example.
Picture Maxtango as a postcard stand in a store where a broad variety of people can pick an Ecard they like.

Hi all,
the competition is over, thank you everybody for participating! We have frozen in tonights scores - of course we ask you to continue to send in your great Ecards and score, comment and use the site as it wa a permanent exhibition and catalogue of the best Ecards from all over the world!
Over the next week we will set up a special page (announced through our newsletter and our blog) with all the winners and prizes given to them. Once that is set up, we will start to contact the winners - so make sure you check your Email account registered with us.

| Just a few hours left |

After things have heated up, it's now about time to count down and enjoy the last hours of the Ecard Design World Championship! By today (August 19th, 2006) around 11 PM CET we will freeze the status of all Ecards, Designers and scores in order to determine the Ecard Design World Champion - along with the 2nd, 3rd and following places! This should be very exciting and of course after the competition is over, you can score, comment and engage in maxtango.
So now there are some 10 hours left to get into the game and score Ecards. That means scoring for other Ecards as well - not just for your own Ecards. As this is a community effort, remember to score fair and with respect! Now, enjoy the last 9 hours and 59 minutes of the Ecard Design World Championship, I'll see you at the ceremony!
I recommend you hop on to the Ecard site and score Ecards.

After feeling that the average rating system is not the best identifier of how good an Ecard has been voted on, we transformed the average rating into a unique score. Not at last because people tried to abuse the rating system in a way that it is only beneficial for them.
ALL existing and previously given votes are intact and counted.
With the new score system granting a "1 out of 10" won't drag your overall average rating down. Now instead, the "1 out of 10" is just added to your score.
Score Example:
Vote 1: 5 out of 10
Vote 2: 2 out of 10
Vote 3: 8 out of 10
.. that get's you a score of 15 based on 3 votes. Previously this would have given you an average rating of 5.
We believe this way, any vote you get (be it 1 or 10) is beneficial to you and not dragging your average rating down. Also, this is the best way to not only determine the highest scores.
Again:
No votes have been lost, all votes have been added up to build your score. All votes from now on will add to your score. |

| Rating Ecards - Abuse is not tolerated |

Hey all,
it seems that a user abused our Ecard rating sytem in a way that he gives everybody else but his own Ecard a straight "1 out of 10".
Now if you think that is fair, cool or that this is going to get you anywhere: You are wrong. We make all efforts to not only prevent people from abusing our system and community, but also take action as soon as we become aware of this.
If you abuse our system: we are going to close your accounts and deduct all of your ratings. Period. We do not tolerate that someone uses this system for only their benefit when the rating/scoring system is meant to be beneficial for the entire community. |
