Privacy Policy Full maxtango.com (Maxtango, we) is a browser-based service by EMERITI, enabling visitors (you) to store, share and send Elecronic Greeting Postcards (Ecards). Maxtango does not exercise, encourage, tolerate or use SPAM. SPAM is unsolicited e-mails or unwanted communication of any kind. We highly respect and value your individual privacy. By using Maxtango, you agree to the collection of information as described in this privacy policy. Should we make changes to this policy, we will announce it in the News. We encourage you to regularly visit this page as the most recent version of the Maxtango privacy policy can be found here. 1 General Information and Subject This privacy policy applies to Maxtango, including subdomains, subdirectories, contest or survey websites and promotional material of Maxtango, the maxtango.com website and to visitors and users complying with our Terms of Service. This policy does not apply to websites we link to via Maxtango. We are not responsible for the content or policies of websites that are not under our control. Please review each website that is linked through Maxtango and review their respective policies. Maxtango regards Ecards as a form of private communication. Therefore we treat your information and correspondence confidentially and securely protect your messages and data. However, we are not liable in cases of illegal activities such as hackers, scam artists or data theft of any form. Make sure that only you have access to your personal information such as Emails and Messages as well as Maxtango account information or notifications. Please also review the Maxtango Terms of Service or contact Maxtango if you have any questions: info@maxtango.com To comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), at this time Maxtango is only available to users who are at least 13 years old. If you are under 13, please do not use Maxtango. Maxtango will never knowingly or intentionally collect any personal information from children under the age of thirteen.
2 Collected Information General User Information We use statistical software to gather information about our visitors and how they use our website. These numbers may include the unique visitors, the total amount of visitors, the duration of a stay, the amount of traffic that is generated and the frequency of certain pages of the website or the browser preferences of our visitors. This information is aggregated by time (weekday, month, year) and will only be represented as a collective view. No personally identifiable information about you or any specific user will be published or shared. These aggregated statistics help us to constantly improve our website, market Maxtango or lay out special Maxtango activities such as contests, surveys or design the site to match the visitors needs. Sessions Instead of using cookies, Maxtango uses temporary sessions in order to maintain a connection between your browser and our server. Sessions are only persistent if there is activity by the client (your browser) and used by Maxtango to check whether you are logged in or not and if you have the rights to access certain features or pages. If your browser is inactive for a certain amount of time, the connection closes. If you close your browser without logging out, the session also ends and you have to login again. IP Addresses An IP Address (Internet Protocol Address) is a unique number for communication purposes within the Internet Protocol or network. These unique numeric identifiers given to each computer enable users to communicate with a Web site such as Maxtango. Logging of the IP address prevents anonymous use and exploitation of our web site. Therefore Maxtango includes the IP Address of the Ecard sender in each header of the Ecard notification Email. Maxtango and its Ecards must not be used as an anonymous mailing service. IP addresses are also logged by our statistical software for reasons to accurately aggregate the collected statistical data. For example, if the same IP address visits Maxtango numerous times, it generates many visits, but only one unique visitor. Sending Ecards We collect a set of basic information in order to deliver your Ecard appropriately. Information includes: your name, your email address, the name of the recipient and the email address of the recipient. We will not use this data for any other purpose than delivering your Ecard to the recipient. Email addresses contained in Ecards will not be used for our newsletter or any form of communication by Maxtango or others. We store an Ecard, the contained addresses and the message for 30 days before it expires. However if you are a registered user and you choose to send your Ecard in the future, the provided information will be stored for the entire duration until your Ecard has been delivered plus 30 days. A delivery ends with the pickup of the Ecard by the Ecard recipient. When sending an Ecard, you can choose to be notified once the Ecard has been picked up by the receiver. If you chose to be notified, you will receive an automatically generated email message by Maxtango once per picked up Ecard. If you choose to send yourself a copy, you will receive a copy of the Ecard notification email and you can access the Ecard online by clicking the link. This click will not be logged as a pickup. Receiving Ecards Receiving an Ecard does require you to click on the unique link that has been generated and incorporated into the Email notification. After clicking on the link, you will be taken to the Maxtango website and presented the Ecard. The Ecard may contain a personal message. You may also click on a link to retrieve your recommended advertising. We will log general user information such as clicks, visits, time and date, your browser and other statistical data as described above. Newsletter Maxtango sends out electronic mailings (Newsletter) to recipients who have explicitly subscribed to the newsletter. The subscription to this newsletter is free, optional and informs the reader about updates to Maxtango, news and features. Recipients who do not wish to receive the newsletter can unsubscribe at all times either through the newsletter or via the Maxtango website. Becoming a member to Maxtango (registering) does not require the subscription to the newsletter. The email newsletter will not be used for any other websites, services or projects not affiliated with Maxtango and your subscribed email address will never be shared with others. Recommended Advertising Maxtango serves online advertising with the aim to add value to the users experience, generate revenue and help online shops and stores to drive quality visitors to their sites. We have established a trust partnership with recommad, an online advertising system. Recommad is “advertising by recommendation” and we are proud of having it implemented into Maxtango. Each user sending an Ecard must select one of the displayed advertisers. The selected advertising will be stored along with the Ecard and personal message and picked up by the recipient alltogether. The recipient may or may not view, click or read this advertising, as it is a recommendation and choice from the sender. The recommad online advertising system uses a number of anonymous statistical data to ensure a smooth advertising delivery and to measure and improve the serving of online advertising to the users of Maxtango. This information may include: the number of a banner shown, the time to deliver a banner, browser and operating system, IP addresses, impressions and Banner clicks filtered by time and date. Recommad also uses cookies. An HTTP cookie is a package of information sent from a server to your browser and can be stored on your hard drive. Each time you revisit Maxtango and recommad, our web sever may check if there was a cookie sent to your browser previously. Recommad uses the cookie in order to log if a banner was clicked more than once by the same visitor. That way we can log the number of clicks and views related to a certain banner and provide advertisers with valuable aggregated statistical information about their campaigns and banners. We do not use data to trace user behaviour in order to deliver advertising, but the aggregated data may help our advertisers to add delivery limitations and mostly measure and determine whether a campaign was successful. To learn more about Cookies, you may review your browser settings, however you may not be able to use every feature of Maxtango if you choose not to accept cookies at all. Important: We will not rent, sell or share your information with anybody who advertises on maxtango. 3 Becoming a Member Registering Becoming a member at Maxtango allows you to gain access to an extra set of useful features. In order to serve these features to your Maxtango user account, we need to collect some information from you. Information include: name, email address, and a personal password with at least 6 characters. Further, agreeing to this policy as well as agreeing to our Terms of Service are mandatory in order to fullfill the registration process. Optionally, you can sign up for the Maxtango newsletter (see Newsletter in this document). Your provided name will be publically displayed on Maxtango along with any Ecards you may upload and the favourite Ecards that you share. Visitors of Maxtango may click on the link on your public name and get to your profile page which you can also modify or fill out through your Maxtango user account. Login & Passwords Your email address and personal password that you provided during the registration will be used to login to your Maxtango account at all times. Should you have forgotten your password, you can retrieve it through the Maxtango system. A notification email will be sent to your registered email address on file, including an automatically generated password. This system password will enable you to login to your account and change the password again to your desired password. You have control over your personal information. After logging in to your account, you can manage the information such as your profile, your Ecards or account settings. Profile Your public profile can be accessed by any Maxtango user as soon as you have uploaded an Ecard. However, you can freely give the information you would like to provide in the profile through your Maxtango account. Your email address will not be made public. Be aware that leaving your email address in the public profile will enable others to send you emails, solicited or unsolicited (spam) so we recommend you use the contact form that comes with every designer profile if you wish to be contacted by others. Providing information regarding your Website (work, personal) or Daily Favorites, and also your location and a short text about yourself are fully optional. 4 Website Communication Profile Contact Form As a registered Maxtango member, you may enable a small contact form that can be accessed by Maxtango users through your profile. If you activate this formular, you will receive an email with the form input (submitted name, email address, message), submitted by the Maxtango user. If you do not wish to be contacted, simply deactivate this feature on the Setting-page in your Maxtango account. Website Contact Form You may contact Maxtango through the website contact form. We require you to provide your email address, name and comment/inquiry. We may reply to your concern using this data. Comments Leaving Comments to an Ecard or to a News item requires to be logged in. Together with your comment, your username will be displayed and linked to your designer profile. You cannot delete or modify comments once they are made, so apply caution and common sense. Comments are instantly published. We may also post the logged time and date together with your comment. Ratings You can leave a vote on any Ecard. Rating or voting for an Ecard requires you to be logged in. You can only rate once per Ecard. Your individual rating will not be shown, it will only be used to calculate an average rating for that Ecard based on all submitted votes. Email Notifications In order to pick up an Ecard, you need to open the Ecard notification email and click on the provided link. That unique link will lead you to the Maxtango website and the Ecard that someone has sent you. If you send an Ecard, your provided name, email address will be included in the notification email. That way the recipient knows where the Ecard is coming from. Contests, Promotions, Surveys From time to time, Maxtango may invite users and visitors to take part in special events. Those events can be a contest, design competition, surveys or simply feedback or promotions within the Maxtango system. We may include partners and sponsors to our events, however we will never release your personal information such as your email address to our business partners. 5 Legal Security We regard Ecards as a form of private communication. Therefore only you (Ecard sender or Ecard recipient) should read the Ecard. We make use of hash algorithms to ensure that your Ecard can only be read if the Ecard recipients picks it up by following the link in the notification Email. In any way you are responsible to store such emails in a safe work environment and make sure that only you have access to this link including the Hash value, a unique identifier for your Ecard based on a cryptographic function. Business Transitions If Maxtango is acquired fully or by assets to another company, it is likely that user information will be a part of the assets transferred. Exceptions In order to comply with the law or to protect maxtango.com, the service and other users, we will investigate data we gather if we are forced by law. We will make such a disclosure without being in violation of this Policy. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH OUR PRIVACY POLICY PLEASE DO NOT USE MAXTANGO EITHER AS A USER OR A MEMBER. Final Note We respect your privacy, therefore we will never sell, rent, share or lease your personal information. Act responsible with all of your information. Keep the password in a safe place, do not forward your login-information to others and apply common sense in all of your online activities and on the Website maxtango.com.
