During the course of the competition, the Maxtango community has scored on the Ecards, clearly determining the winners and Ecard Design World Champions! Below is the standing and results as of August 19 (Deadline) for our top 10 winners and their granted prizes!

Please note that for each designer, their highest Ecard in the running was ranked. In the coming days we will contact you through Email in order to arrange prizes, shipping and such.

Design an Ecard!
maxtango started as a small, fun project back in 2001. Designers submitted their Ecards upon invitation. The new maxtango is open and designer community driven. We believe in the fun and social adventure that is sending Ecards. With the Ecard design competition we expect many great Ecards to be added to maxtango, an ongoing exhibition and catalogue of the best designed Ecards!

Judging Criteria
Judging of the Ecard Champions is a community effort.
Every maxtango user votes on other user Ecards.
The Ecard with the highest rating in each category wins the competition.
If there are more Ecards with the same rating, the following criteria will determine the rank of an Ecard:
Number of Votes, Number of Pickups, Additions as Favorites, Number of Comments

If there are Ecards with the exact same numbers in all of the above criteria, a panel of judges will determine the ranks. We should be able to find a winner!
Vote in such a manner that you want your Ecards to be voted on.

Ecard Tips

What kind of Ecards?
We are not looking for anything specific. You are completely free in what you want to design. We are not giving you a theme to design by, or any restrictions and regulations. As long as it is not discriminating, harassing, obscene or breaking any laws.
That also means you should be the owner to the work you are uploading.

Please regard this as a simple guide to what Ecards should be about in general. If you have any ideas to extend this document, let us know!

Give your best
Remember that you are creating an Ecard, a piece of work that will most likely be seen by a large number of people, shared and sent around the globe together with your name as the designer. Make your Ecard emotional, outstanding, unique, funny, witty, clever or entertaining.

Think outside occasions or national holidays
There are a million of reasons to send out Ecards. Valentines Day or a Birthday are just two. What kind of Ecard would you like to receive on a daily basis? A fun, witty and clever one or rather a "get well soon" Ecard? Try to avoid the obvious. Think of a concept or message, tell a story.

What is the message?
Your Ecard can be a simple or beautiful photograph. But it could also be a fun, witty, creative and clever composition, design, movie, collage or artwork.
Does your Ecard have a message? Does the message come across and can it be understood by an international audience?

Quality over Quantity
You have a limited amount of Ecards that you can store in your account and that you can upload during the competition.
Rather go for 3 real good ones than 10 that are similar or partly unfinished. Check out the comments and ratings to your and other designers Ecards to observe the market.

Put your name on it, but do not advertise
It's your Ecard, even when it is being sent around by other people. So feel free to put your name on it, but do not advertise in a way that the advertising exceeds the message, design or art. Your Designer profile will always be sent along with your Ecard. No worries that you are not getting credits. Standalone advertising Ecards will not be tolerated.

Flash Ecards: go crazy but handle with care
We highly encourage you to put movies into Flash, animate your Ecard, add sound or interaction.
But you should consider a couple of things:

1) Add a preloader to your Ecard
2) Ecard not looping: add a replay button
3) Do not open pop up windows out of your SWF file
4) Ecards with sound, add a "sound-off" button or volume slider
